Originally from San Diego, I spent eight years in the U.S. Navy as an electronics technician. While I was enlisted, I earned a bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University in electronic systems technology.
I entered the financial services industry in 2005 as a financial advisor with Waddell & Reed before moving to the Midwest and then on to San Francisco to work for Ivy Investments as a mutual fund wholesaler. As a regional vice president, I was responsible for supporting financial advisors and their clients with mutual fund investments. I relocated back to Southern California and worked for Edward Jones as a financial advisor from 2016 until the end of 2020.
I wrote and published a book in 2019 titled The Balancing Act to help readers understand the psychology of spending and to guide people through the challenges of budgeting with practical steps to achieve their financial goals.
After 15 years working for large corporate financial services firms, I decided That I no longer wanted to work for fortune 500 companies that seemed to only focus on revenue and gathering more assets. I wanted to work directly for my clients. In January 2021, I founded Dave Baldwin Financial to better serve my clients through financial planning and investment management at a more reasonable and transparent cost.
I am an active member of the North County community and sit on the Board of Directors for the Vista Chamber of Commerce. I attend North Coast Church and lead a life group with my wife, Andrea. We have two amazing Children, Megan and Ryan.
